About West Bend

West Bend is located in the heart of the Kettle Moraine in Southeastern Wisconsin and is the county seat of Washington County. West Bend sports a population of 31,078 residents who are proud to call it home.

The area has many different museums including the Old Courthouse Museum, Old Sheriff’s Residence and Jail, St. Agnes Historic Convent & School, and the Museum of Wisconsin Art or MOWA for short. Shalom Wildlife Zoo is “Wisconsin’s Wildest Zoo” and has earned TripAdvisor’s “Certificate of Excellence” three years in a row for being the top ranked zoo in the state. The zoo has also bee features on Good Morning America, Outdoor Wisconsin, and Around the Corner with John McGivern. Shalom offers larger than average spaces for it’s animals and is a great activity for the whole family.

Those looking for adventure will be happy to know that West Bend is the geocaching capital of the Midwest. With over 1,600 caches in a 10-mile radius, you’ll never run out of things to find. All you need is your phone and a geocaching app and you’re good to go! West Bend also hosts their annual “$1,000 Cache Ba$h” event every summer where $1,000 in prizes are up for grabs. This event attracts geocachers from around the world and is a great event for anyone serious about geocaching.

Throughout the year, West Bend hosts events that celebrate a wide range of holidays, hobbies, and backgrounds. Music on Main is a summer long concert series that brings live music to downtown West Bend. The concerts are free and happen every Thursday from early June through early September. The Washington County Fair is an annual tradition in the area as West Bend is the home of the fair. The fair brings people together with carnival rides, great food, and live music on select nights. Winter on Main is a celebration of the holiday season that brings together music, crafts, carolers and holiday characters to create lasting memories for all ages.
